Smokey beast in the abyss

I was getting pretty bored of doing just stuff for University so I took 1 hour off and I drew this
and boy I like it!
In terms of design there is not much going on, but I really wanted to do something dynamic! I had to do few things but well done. I'll try doing more concepts like this one, with few colors but with a strong contrast.

Looking forward to do more :)

I used various color layers in overlay at the end to change the atmosphere a little bit.

Blueish

Normal

Orange

Bald BLADE

So Leo suggested me that I should take some drawing I did on my sketchbook and render them on photoshop.
I though that it was MADNESS and i struggled a lot. Yet after leaving half the drawing resting for a couple of months i finished it in half an hour and had a lot of fun!

Here is the process

Sketchbook: I wanted to try to make an heroine less sexualised than usual.

Photoshop render: It s hard to make something you already did without any guidelines. You know, after you brush for a while the drawing at the base is completely gone, soo...yea

Portrait: I have no clue why I wanted to do this

More James Henry stuff

Seemed like Mr James Henry really liked my work. I did some more and I'm getting the hang of the new style, not that is that different from my usual one AYY LMAO
This week I focused mostly on environment of the "West country" idea, basing a lot on the city of Falmouth and Penryn.

These are some color concepts. It is almost never sunny thou (sorry but it is true)

The main house built next to a cliff

The studio in the tower

Various city shots

Chased by the beast of Bodmin or Badminton

Wow pieces

I also colored and fixed the characters from Runepaw

I'll do more monsters and creatures for next weeks. Oh yea

James Henry

So, in my honest opinion Ryan Gosling is quite charming, looks like the type of guy you wish your daughter would date.

Anyway, the other day the writer James Henry came over and we pitched to him our character ideas, I did all the three we had and I am afraid I bored him a little...Mmmm I hope he liked them, but I am always quite pessimistic about my work.

Idea 1: The West family: a paranormal show for kids with a mom writer, one small kid, one girl and three spooky ghosts.

The boy (a little weird kid) and the sister

The mum and the three ghosts

the character are built like toys, here are some examples.

Concept for the house

Idea 2: Runepaw: children tv shows with viking mice!

Mice

Extra

Idea 3: Opal the dwarf princess: mundane fantasy world with a dwarf princess and a dark wizard

Palette challenge 1

I haven't had much time for myself lately, I have been quite tired and demotivated, especially when it came to drawing stuff of mine.
End of the story
NO JUST KIDDING
the other day I imposed myself to start a palette challenge: I found 50 different combinations of 5 colors and with all of them I'll do a small drawing. It's fun and I feel like it helps a lot in improving my painting skills. Here are some of them!

Goo Dragon

Pink mage

Samurai kitsune

Poppy parrot

Purple bust

Restorative Justice

Last month we have been introduced to the restorative justice concept.
It constist in having the victim and the perpetrator of the crime discuss with each other about the criminal act that involved the two of them, and they try to sort things out. It often ends up helping the victim a lot, which is great! At the moment it done and known only in northern Ireland and Uk, but it will hopefully spread out all over Europe ( and the world!)
I probably did not explained it very well, so you might want to check their website to know more about it.

So we have to make an animation about it, so here it is! I pitched the idea of a person made of glass, scared of everything after the accident, and the perpetrator who is "corrupted" but all the anger and hate that surrounds him. Through talking the two people ending up "healing" each others.

Here is the early design of the characters. I am now currently working in a group of people who ACTUALLY wanted to work with me,and liked the idea, which is great!

I will soon upload more! Wish me luck!

William Tell: the apple shooting

It took a long time but i can safely say that I am satisfied of my first cartoon on toon boom. There are many bits that I would have improved, such as the part where he raises the bow and the one where he is about shoot.
I have to thank Mr Felstead for helping me and sending me the video tutorial

Let's not forget that I had to re do all the design of the character because I screw up badly with the style of the author and I had to learn to paint in a different style without outlines.

Merry christmas to me

As you can see all the character look pretty much the same, only painted differently, except William who was drawn less cartoony (too bad I really liked him)

It was a pain considering I had to re do everything during Christmas holidays, but it definitely payed off considering I got an excellent grade!

Worst part definitely was having a stomach flu while working and throwing up every 5 minutes, but other than that, it was a great Christmas
